Did you know that many appliances when turned off, but still plugged in, are still using energy? The most common appliances to keep pulling, even when powered off, are; gaming systems, DVR’s, televisions, and audio equipment. Basic rule of thumb, if it has a light on it or is hot to the touch when plugged in, but not turned on, it most likely has this phantom energy load.
A way to cut this wasted energy cost is to use a power strip, and once appliances are plugged in, remember to turn the power strip off when not in use. This power strip can be used to help tunr off hard to reach items like microwaves and gaming systems.
